Stupid world. Stupid, sexist, revolting world.

How much does it suck to be female? Ha ha ha, let's all make little jokes and laugh it off when women complain about anything they find offensive.

Men are, by and large, creeps. Absolute nasty pasties.

I am a member of a music forum where the female membership is 1.3%. The other 98.7% are knuckle-dragging troglodites. You just would not believe the hostility whenever I suggest something is a teeny bit upsetting to people who have XX chromosomes. And sometimes SOMETIMES you even get other women putting you down! Traitors!

Why we all haven't risen up and slaughtered men by now is beyond me. It's probably because of the traitors.

OH, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, the little chicky-babe thinks she can think. Oh ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha .

Would a black person not be offended by an ad featuring another black person, semi naked with a spear and a ring through their nose and a bone in their hair? Well, what is the difference between that and a woman with nearly zero clothes, fishnet stockings and squashy, escaping bosoms?

Feminism has failed.
It has bloody well failed.

Feminism didn't fail. It very successfully killed chivalry and courtship.

Hi Anonymous! Sorry that I haven't been on blogger in a long while, and thus have not commented. And even though I am a member of the gender that has that nasty Y chromosome, I happen to agree with you 100%. Our society is harmful to both sexes; it is harmful to girls and women because they receive a message that one must be beautiful/sexy to fit in. Unfortunately, the image of beauty that is imparted on females is that a "beautiful" woman must be paper thin, have large breasts, and dress revealingly. Also, women who are more "independent" are often looked at with disdain from men (and, like you said, some women) for being "out of line." Any woman who asserts her independence is unfairly labeled as a "feminist." While the feminist movement has won many victories for women's rights, a lot of people look at the term with scorn because they still think that a woman should be subservient to men. I'm sure that a number of "feminist" women actually hate men and want nothing to do with them, but I think that most women in these groups are actually fighting for equality between the sexes, so maybe an appropriate term for these women (and men) would be "humanists"?

Additionally, I believe men are harmed by this society because they receive a message that they should be "masculine", and many go out of the way to get involved in "macho" activities, such as obsessive sports watching and womanizing. My point is, the messages that each gender receives are messages of social conditioning, and they are so influential that many believe that there must be clear divisions between the sexes and how they act.

Or maybe I have no point, because I have rambled on and on and I can't stop thinking about CHEESE! All of what I wrote above is my personal opinion, of course, and readers must be aware that the author believes that he/she is BOTH male AND female! I have the body of a man, and yet I feel that my body alone does not dictate my personality and my role in society. I can appreciate things that men typically appreciate, such as science-fiction movies, cars, sports; you name it. However, there is also a feminine side to me that embraces more emotional things; beautiful things...aspects that are traditionally associated with femininity. I am androgynous, and I think that all of humanity has potential to discover that within themselves.

Humans are infinite beings. We are too grand and too intelligent to be confined into a box. In this discussion, that box is the concept of traditional gender roles. I'm done (finally), thank you!

CHEESE!

P.S. I read a very interesting book that deals with this subject. It's called Reviving Ophelia: Saving the Selves of Adolescent Girls by Mary Pipher. Highly recommended!

Feminism hasn't failed in the largest sense of the word--rather, we have won so much ground in the past 100 years! I see Feminism as having several spokes to it, just like politics. You have conservative Feminists, liberal Feminists, and Moderate Feminists, and all types inbetween. From a moderate Feminist standpoint, it seems like we have done well for ourselves. For instance, reading Betty Fridan's book, "The Feminist Mystique" I have seen an amazing jump in women's expansion of the world. Men are becoming a rare species in the world of medicine in the USA, so med schools are trying to attract more men because of woman domination. Women are now seeing that they need to find their own identities in themselves instead of a man, another victory! In the grand state of Washington (no, not Washington D.C. but the Washington that is above Oregon that is above California), most of the Senators are FEMALE, who are amazing women, who take no crap from anyone. It is all in one's perspective, but honestly, we have many men quivering in their boots. We can live without them, but for many men, they cannot live without us. That is our secret power tool to be used for the good of equality, not a power struggle.

I loved what Scott had to say! That was seriously cool. Oh, and good luck with the worm scheme! May you be blessed with many more :).

I too have posted about male rudeness on blogs when I dared comment. They MCP is alive and well in the world. Thank goodness we women are now able to ignore them and say Boo, Hiss, You Suck & it's true they are no longer required by most of us. One of my favourite sayings is: If they can put one man on the moon, why not the rest of them? I do so wish they would at least trek back to their native planet (Mars).
Men are sooo Redundant! We women can get anything we want out of a dish these days.
